GEAUGA PARK DISTRICT — OHIO
Geauga Park District sought to create a new camping opportunity that gives you a feeling of being in a tree house. The Tree House camping shelter immerses guests in nature, it is perched at the edge of a wooded ravine and elevated into the tree canopy. This location provides on-grade access at one end and a tree-top view at the other.
It features bunk platforms for sleeping bags, foldout indoor table and chairs, an outdoor firepit, and a deck. The walls, ceiling, and floor sandwich rigid insulation panels between the structure to provide an adventurous option for winter campers. The shelter was designed as a prototype ‘kit of parts’ that could be repeated in other wooded areas in the park. Geauga Park District self-performed the construction of this shelter.
