Interested in Architecture since Middle School
Matthew’s interest in architecture began one day in middle school art class when a college student came to discuss architecture as a degree path. He says that it seemed like a great blend of art and math and since that day, he has pursued a career in architecture.

Matthew graduated from The Ohio State University with a BS in Architecture. After working for various firms, he began working for Peninsula Architects in commercial design. While working for Peninsula, he returned to school and earned a Master’s degree in Library and Information Science.

Working with Parks Provides a Hands-On Experience
Matthew‘s favorite type of projects are park projects. He loves knowing that his family and the community can be hands-on with these projects.

Doing Meaningful Work
Matthew also finds working with nonprofit organizations to be extremely fulfilling. One project he particularly enjoyed was the Akron Rotary Camp. The funding for the camp comes solely from donations, allowing the kids to attend camp free of cost. Matthew is particularly proud that Peninsula’s masterplanning, renderings, and design helped make the camp what it is today.

Reading, Relaxing, and Renaissance Festivals
When Matthew is not at work, he loves to unwind with a good book and spend time with his family. In his college days, Matthew worked at renaissance festivals over the summer, dressing up in period costumes and speaking with an accent.
