Emergency Medicine Physicians Office Expansion & Conference Center
NORTH CANTON, OHIO
The EMP office expansion and conference center involved the addition to two existing office blocks dating back to the late 1970’s. The drab masonry boxes of the original buildings stand in stark contrast to the flowing and undulating forms of the new addition. Space between the original office blocks has been captured and transformed into an atrium space which connects the existing buildings to the new conference center and allows vertical circulation via a monumental stair. New programmatic components include:
- A 300-seat sloped floor classroom
- Eight “breakout” conference rooms of various sizes
- Atrium space for gathering and dining
- A media room for remote conference and video production
- A 200-foot pedestrian bridge to the existing headquarters building
